Project Recap: Meta Data Centers – New Albany, Ohio

The Meta Data Center in New Albany, Ohio, is a key component of Meta’s global infrastructure, powering the technologies and services that connect billions of people worldwide. The groundbreaking for this $1.5 billion facility took place in 2017, marking the start of a project that would soon employ over 1,200 construction workers and eventually create more than 300full-time jobs. Additionally, the center contributes over $5.5 million annually to local school funding, underscoring its long-term value to the community.

Mt. Carmel Stabilization Group was among the first contractors onsite, working alongside the George J. Igel Company to ensure the project’s success from the ground up. Between January and November 2022, our team was tasked with soil modification and soil stabilization across nearly 620,000 square yards of the site. This process involved the application of over 42,000tons of lime kiln dust, effectively preparing the ground to support the massive infrastructure of the data center.

Our involvement in the New Albany Data Center project reflects Mt.Carmel Stabilization Group’s extensive experience in supporting data center construction. As a preferred contractor for soil stabilization in this sector, we have played a crucial role in the development of both edge and hyperscale data centers across six states. Since 2018, we have modified and stabilized over 6.7 million cubic yards of soil and installed more than 400,000 tons of material on data center projects.

With offices in Illinois, Kansas, and Ohio, along with our dedicated soils lab, we offer a comprehensive range of services that include valuable soil analysis in addition to our proven modification and stabilization processes. Backed by the largest fleet and the most experienced team in the industry, Mt. Carmel Stabilization Group, Inc. is the premier choice for soil stabilization in data center construction projects.

The New Albany Data Center is one of the first of several significant investments Meta has made in Ohio, and Mt. Carmel is proud to have played a pivotal role in its development. Our commitment to quality and safety ensures that each project we undertake meets the rigorous demands of data center construction, providing a solid foundation for the future of digital infrastructure.
