Project Recap: Fox Squirrel Solar Project - Madison County, Ohio

The Fox Squirrel Solar Project, a 577MW solar power plant, isbeing developed in Madison County, Ohio by Geenex Solar, a subsidiary of EDFRenewables, a global leader in renewable energy assets. As one of the largestsolar farms east of the Mississippi River, this project is a significant steptowards a sustainable future. When completed, it will generate enough cleanenergy to power approximately 129,000 homes and mitigate around 1.2 millionmetric tons of greenhouse gases annually. The construction phase, which beganin the fourth quarter of 2021, is expected to generate over 1,600 jobs andcontribute up to $213 million to the local economy. Once operational, theproject will provide 38 permanent jobs and deliver annual tax revenues of about$5.1 million to Madison County.

Mt. Carmel Stabilization Group was proud to be among the firstcontractors on site, playing a crucial role in the project's early stages.Starting in September 2022 and concluding in February 2024, our team wasresponsible for the installation of the laydown yards and the stabilizedsubgrades for the construction trailer city. Over the course of this period, wecompleted the installation of more than 35 miles of roadway and dozens ofconstruction staging areas, covering over 600,000 square yards. To achievethis, we utilized over 16,000 tons of cement and lime kiln dust in our soilstabilization and soil drying processes, ensuring a solid foundation for theentire project.

Our collaboration with Blattner Energy was a testament to ourcommitment to efficiency and safety. Together, we successfully completed over12,000 hours of injury-free work, making this project a highlight of ourextensive experience in soil stabilization and solar energy infrastructure. TheFox Squirrel Solar Project is not just a milestone for Madison County but alsoa shining example of how advanced soil stabilization techniques can supportlarge-scale renewable energy projects across Ohio and beyond.
