Mt. Carmel Stabilization Group Leads With Extreme Ownership
Mt. Carmel Stabilization Group management recently completed leadership training through Echelon Front, the organization behind the powerful Extreme Ownership framework. EF’s Field Training Exercise (FTX) is an intensive training designed to empower teams to lead in business and in life. A team of 26 members from Mt. Carmel faced off against a small but experienced group of professionals, including Marines, police officers, and first responders to learn how to apply real-world leadership principles in dynamic, high-stress environments.
Neil Ryan, President of Mt. Carmel Stabilization, reflected on the impact of the training, saying, “This training is perfect in building a team. And the strategy and tactics that Echelon Front teaches will make us all better teammates, leaders in our businesses, but also leaders at home and in the community.”
Ryan was one of many who were able to see how the training underscored Mt. Carmel’s Core Values of Selfless I Quality I Excellence I Drive. “We as a company strive to seek opportunities to put others before ourselves, and that's really the mindset that we want in our leadership,” he explained.
Safety Director Greg Porter emphasized the importance of listening to the team to ensure quality and safety in the field. “We like quality to come from our people. From a safety perspective, for instance, they're the experts. I'm a resource for them and supply whatever it is they need to make sure that, at the end of the day, we supply good quality for our customers,” Porter shared.
Ryan Kaman, Project Manager/Estimator, saw excellence in the core principles learned during the training and how they extend beyond just the workplace. “We learned about the four core principles: cover and move, simple, prioritize and execute, and decentralized command. Something that I never considered after going through a lot of this training is that I can use it at home, too. So, I think it's not only going to make me better at what I do in my job, but after I'm done there, I can go home and be a better person at it too.”
FTX Instructor Danny Ziem praised Mt. Carmel’s teamwork, noting, “Your drive is your “Why?” And your “why” is what’s keeping you focused on the mission, the team, the individuals on the team, and ultimately you last. The team aspect and the teamwork that we see with Mt. Carmel here is like no other.”
As our team applies these leadership principles, the benefits will be felt throughout the company, enhancing not only internal collaboration but also the quality of service provided to customers. By fostering stronger teamwork and more effective decision-making, we ensure that Mt. Carmel continues to deliver exceptional results on every project while supporting the personal and professional growth of our employees.
