General Manager Ryan Kaman breaks down the approach behind the work.
Kansas City has long been a key driver of Mt. Carmel Stabilization Group’s market growth.
It serves as the base for supporting work west of the Mississippi and reaching multiple markets from one location.
From Kansas City, Mt. Carmel is able to support projects in and around Columbia and St. Louis, Missouri; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska; Des Moines, Iowa; and Bentonville, Arkansas. These locations reflect the reach of the Kansas City hub, not the limit of it.
Built for the West
Having a team based in Kansas City allows Mt. Carmel to be on site and in front of clients west of St. Louis. Face-to-face service supports better communication, stronger relationships, and more effective scoping of specialized or complex projects.
The Kansas City location also supports close coordination with key partners. Emery Sapp & Sons, one of Mt. Carmel’s long-standing industry partners, is headquartered in Columbia, Missouri and has offices throughout the region, including Kansas City. Proximity allows teams to stay aligned and respond quickly as projects move forward.
How Work Gets Done
Being based in Kansas City allows projects to receive a direct and hands-on level of involvement. Teams are able to spend time with site superintendents, walk projects, and provide practical recommendations for site-specific challenges as they arise.
Local presence also makes it easier to build relationships with low-boy carriers and fuel services across the region. Equipment can be maintained and mobilized within six hours of the Mt. Carmel shop, reducing downtime and keeping projects on schedule.
Opportunity Across the West Region
While the Kansas City metro area continues to be an important market, the broader West Region offers additional opportunities. The ability to work across several states allows Mt. Carmel to pursue projects that are unique to the region and expand its presence beyond a single metro area.
With continued opportunities to get in front of clients and projects, Mt. Carmel sees clear opportunity for growth throughout the Western market.
Where the Work Proves It
That approach is proven on the US-69 Expressway in Overland Park, Kansas.
Beginning in 2023 with final mobilization completed in fall 2025, the US-69 Expressway required Mt. Carmel teams to work alongside open traffic lanes while operating within tight and confined spaces. As the first express-lane project in Kansas history, the project represented a major modernization effort on one of the busiest highways in the state.
The scale and complexity placed it among the largest public works projects in Kansas history. Successfully delivering a project of this size required consistent coordination across crews, superintendents, and project leadership throughout the life of the job.
What Quality Means at Mt. Carmel
Quality on a Mt. Carmel project means delivering the work right, doing it efficiently, and exceeding expectations from start to finish, both for the customers and ourselves.
Client satisfaction throughout the life of the project is a core measure of success, not an afterthought.
